Lucas is a Performance Specialist at Michael Johnson Performance and has been with the team since 2012. Previously stationed in Baku, Azerbaijan on a global partnership project, Lucas currently works with athletes in our NextGen program at the facility in McKinney, Texas. Lucas earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from North Dakota State University and worked as a Coordinator at the Wallman Wellness Center on the NDSU campus.
Lucas first joined the MJP staff in 2012 where he completed a 10-week internship at the MJP SPIRE Institute. He was then accepted into a 12-week externship program at the MJP headquarters in McKinney, Texas. Upon completion of his externship, Lucas was hired on full time and became the Youth Coordinator at MJP in McKinney. During his time in this role, Lucas created training methods, and developed strategies for maintenance and growth for the MJP NextGen program. Additionally, he implemented training schedules, established sports club partnerships, and trained youth athletes. Lucas has coached over 2,500 athletes and has worked with a wide variety of sports including: football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, ice hockey, figure skating, and track and field. He has worked with the English Football Association in development of the newest Grassroots Program.
Lucas was most recently providing the Elite Athlete Development Program on a Global Partnership project stationed in Baku, Azerbaijan working with Olympic caliber athletes from January 2015 to June 2016. His roles included creating and developing methodology with skills coaches for training programs; implementing, monitoring, and analyzing effectiveness of all training aspects pertaining to sport discipline; providing feedback to Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee and Azerbaijan Youth Development for Sport on direction and trends of athletes; providing coaching seminars to skill coaches of Olympic Federations on Injury Risk, Speed, Strength, and other MJP training philosophies. Lucas coached over 80 athletes in a wide variety of disciplines: Athletics (sprinting and jumping), Gymnastics (rhythmic, men’s/women’s artistic, acrobatics, and trampoline), Fencing (women saber), and Triathlon Federations.
Prior to MJP, Lucas earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from North Dakota State University. He worked as a Coordinator at the Wallman Wellness Center on the NDSU campus, and at Southwestern Advantage, one of the oldest and most respected direct selling companies in America.
