Lance is currently the Global Director of Performance at MJP in McKinney, Texas, and has been a member of the team since 2007. He directs global operations for the company in the US, China and England and is also responsible for ensuring product development and implementation for MJP licensed facilities. Lance earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Kansas State University where he was a three-year letterman and attained Academic All-Big 8 honors as a receiver on the football team. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy and a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Oklahoma.
Lance brings an extensive background in strength and conditioning and sports medicine at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels. With over 20 years of performance training experience across 31 different sport disciplines, Lance is currently the Global Director of Performance at MJP.
Before coming to MJP in 2007, he previously served as Director of Performance Training at Integrated Athletic Development (IAD). There, he was responsible for the training and physical rehabilitation needs of hundreds of active professional athletes from the NBA, NFL, MLB, MLS, PGA, NHL, EPL, F1, and CFL. Prior to IAD, Lance served three seasons as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Dallas Cowboys and 5 seasons at the University of Oklahoma. Previous to joining the Dallas Cowboys, Lance developed, implemented, and directed the Sports Performance and Sports Medicine Department at Casady School (OK), where he worked with 9-17 year old athletes across many sports, including: football, basketball, track, golf, gymnastics, and wrestling.
A 1993 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Lance was a three-year letterman and attained Academic All-Big 8 honors as a receiver on the football team. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy and a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Oklahoma.
A well-recognized authority in his field, Lance has contributed to over 20 professional publications in sport science, and presented at over 30 national conferences and 10 international Master’s courses. He is also a major contributor of product insight for Nike Innovation Kitchen, the Nike Explore Team, and is a member of the Nike Master Trainer Council, providing direction for training content, apparel, and shoe design.
Lance is a registered physical therapist in the State of Texas and has been practicing for nearly 15 years. His experiences have included assignments with professional clubs, collegiate athletic programs, elite high school athletic departments, and sports therapy clinic, Healthsouth. In addition to his clinical roles, he has also served the academic side of the allied health profession at the University of Oklahoma as an adjunct professor, guest lecturer, and published researcher.
Combining his sports medicine and rehab sciences background, with 23 years of performance training experience, Lance is recognized globally as a leading expert, innovator, and pioneer in youth athlete development, high-performance training systems integration, and multi-disciplinary sports performance training methodology.
