In an advisory role, MJP relies on Chad’s expertise in the field of mental conditioning, while occasionally working personally with our elite and professional athletes. Currently, he is employed full-time with the New York Yankees organization as Director of Mental Conditioning, where he has held the position the past 12 years, spending the majority of his time with the Major League team. Additionally, Chad is a mental conditioning consultant for the Dallas Cowboys (2012-current), and serves in another advisory role for LEADERS in Sports, based in London, England.
Chad attended Hutchinson Community College (Kansas), Wichita State University (Kansas), and San Diego State University (California), where he earned his M.A. in Exercise and Nutritional Sciences with a specialization in Sport Psychology. While at San Diego State, he taught classes within the Exercise and Nutritional Sciences Department and coordinated academic-athletic counseling programs to the 16 Division 1 teams at SDSU, as well as, interning with local physical therapists, and assisting in psychological dimensions that are involved with post-surgery and during rehabilitation phases. While attending Wichita State University, Chad worked with clinical psychologists on research and applied sport psychology applications.
From 2000 to 2005, Chad served as the Director of Mental Conditioning at IMG Academies where he was responsible for overseeing a team consisting of 5 full-time individuals, along with an internship program. The department supported each of the individual sports within the IMG Academies (tennis, golf, baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey); Chad consistently worked with many top elite athletes from Olympians to numerous MLB, NBA, NFL, ATP and WTA professionals, including working with 27 NFL first-round draft picks from 2001 to 2005, and the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2002 to 2005. During his time at IMG Academies, Chad also served as an Adjunct Professor for Manatee Community College teaching Mental Training and Development.
With the New York Yankees from 2005-2008, Chad spent time at the Major League level and with all affiliates of the Yankee’s minor league systems. In 2009, the Yankees developed a Mental Conditioning Department, consisting of 4 full-time individuals, that Chad oversees but allows him to spend the majority of his time with the Major League team throughout the season, including travel during spring training and on all regular and post-season road trips. In addition, Chad assists with scouting interviews for the First-Year Player MLB Draft and works many special assignments during the off-season.
