Dr. Adam Malek is currently the Lead Physical Therapist for the Sports Medicine Department for MJP in McKinney, TX, and has been a member of the team since August 2018. Adam is a native of Houston, TX where he graduated with his Bachelor from the University of Houston. As a licensed educator, Adam taught and was a pitching/throwing coach for a local Houston high school. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. In 2017, he graduated from the Houston Methodist Therapy Sport Residency and passed the Sport Certified Specialist exam.
A sport specialization signifies advanced knowledge in the rehabilitation of an athlete and their needs for return to sport. Supplementary to his Sport Certification, he holds a certification in Sport and Orthopedic Manual Therapy through the Institute for Athlete Regeneration, a certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a certification in Blood Flow Restriction Training, and a certification in Dry Needling/IASTM. Adam has developed and applied his knowledge to rehabilitating youth, Collegiate, Professional, and Olympic athletes of all ages. He has worked as the Physical Therapist with the Sport Medicine Team for Prairie View A&M University, providing rehabilitation for the football, baseball, basketball, soccer, and softball teams.
Adam has focused on developing athletes with an individualized functional approach to not only treat injuries, but to limit the risk of injury.
Special interests include manual therapy for athletes, education on bio-mechanical requirements for sport and exercise, and researching on the newest return to play criterion for all level of athletes.
