Michael Johnson Performance is proud to announce its partnership with Liverpool FC-IATX. MJP is working to provide an integrated training solution for LFC soccer athletes at Blue Sky Sports Complex in The Colony to increase speed, agility, quickness and strength, and reduce overall risk for injury.
“We are now bringing our world-class athletic development training out to the soccer fields to train teams on their homefield,” Bryan McCall, MJP Director of Performance, said. “MJP deploys two types of mobile training, integrated and stand-alone, both with great benefit to the athlete. MJP is now training Liverpool ECNL teams with the integrated model. These athletes will be quicker and stronger on the ball, and overall more confident as athletes.”
Starting in late August, MJP coaches began training the LFC-IAA’s boys Elite Club National League (ECNL) teams with the newly designed Integrated Training Approach. This new “on-the-pitch” approach consists of two 30-minute sessions on either side of a one-hour LFC-IAA soccer specific training. The team transitioned from a two-hour soccer practice, to a three part, integrated practice. The first thirty minutes of training is led by MJP coaches and focuses on dynamic warm-up and reactive drills. Transitioning into the second part of training, the players then shift to their LFC coaches for one hour of soccer specific training. The final thirty minutes of training is spent back with MJP coaches concentrating on strength and power.
“We wanted to provide the best opportunity for our soccer players and develop them into better overall athletes,” Tom Blencoe, Director for the LFC-IAA Boys Soccer Program, said, “which will translate into better soccer players on the pitch. By integrating an hour-long soccer practice in the middle of two MJP sessions, we felt we are providing world class preparation for the soccer players in our club, and fits beautifully into our mission statement.”
