We’re wrapping up another year of Speed and Agility Camps at Michael Johnson Performance, but we’re not done yet! We still have spots available in two of our camps: Holiday Camp and New Year’s Camp!
Throughout the year, MJP hosts several Speed & Agility camps, each camp brings in anywhere from 30 to 60 athletes.
Campers are broken into groups based on the number of attendees and their ages. Each group works on the same types of skills, but with programming that is age-appropriate.
Lucy Keyworth, MJP Performance Specialist, is one of the coaches who helps facilitate training during camps. Each training is broken into four main categories.
“Each day will have a specific theme: linear or multi-directional,” Lucy said. “The day will start off with a dynamic warm-up, and then plyometrics and reactives. From there, we move into drills specific to the theme of the day to educate the athletes. Lastly, the athletes get to apply what they’ve learned into game-like situations.”
The games aren’t just the athletes’ favorite time of day, it’s also a fun time for the coaches.
“My favorite part of coaching camp is seeing the all the athletes work as a team during game time,” Lucy said. “They may have never met each other, but they all work together to compete. It really is awesome seeing the variation of competitive personalities and how they attack a certain challenge.”
If you missed out on our latest Thanksgiving Camp, don’t worry! You still have time to get your athlete registered for MJP Holiday and New Year’s camps.
